MMCM: Meet the JKUAT medical student who is also a stylist and designer and won the male designer of the year in JKUSA awards.

MEDICAL MAN CRUSH MONDAY (MMCM)

Meet the JKUAT medical student who is also a stylist and designer. Ali Amin Tifow.

On our first episode of Medical Achievers on the theme of Motivational Monday, we are blessed to have Ali Amin Tifow, a medical student and also a stylist and designer. Read his interview with Dr Audi below and get to know what he does more.

DR AUDI: Tell us about yourself?

TIFOW: My name is Amin Ali Tifow. I am a tall, social and friendly comrade of Somali origin and I  come from Nairobi Dagoretti area. I am a stylist and designer and the winner of male designer of the year in the JKUSA awards that were done this year.

DR AUDI: Which course are you doing? Where and which year are you in?

TIFOW: I am a third year student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology.

DR AUDI: You are a Bsc Clinical medicine student; tell us more about your course?

TIFOW: Briefly it's a undergraduate program that deals with the training of clinical officer at the degree level which runs for 4years and members of this profession are responsible for preventive, promotive and curative health care services in Kenya. It is a great course I can say.

DR AUDI: What made you do start doing designing and styling?

TIFOW: I have always had passion about dressing people. I really enjoy dressing people. And I also love working with colours and fabrics. They are things that really drive me.

DR AUDI: How are you able to juggle between Clinical Medicine and styling?

TIFOW: To me, it’s all about managing my time very well. I am able to plan and manage my time efficiently. That’s the most important thing especially when you are in medical school, because in medicine-it’s either you run the time or the time ruins you.

DR AUDI: Have you ever thought of leaving Clinical Medicine and just do styling and designing?

TIFOW: No. That has never crossed my mind. Clinical Medicine is my profession and I am in love with every bit of it.

DR AUDI: If you were the chairman of the Clinical medicine profession; what's one thing you would do to make this profession greater?

TIFOW: I will ensure production of competent and qualified clinical officers through high quality training and also proper regulation of registration and licensing of clinical officers.

DR AUDI: What advice would you give those who would want to pursue their hobbies while still studying for their professions?

TIFOW: Being in medical school shouldn’t mean an end to your hobby or talent. What you need more is proper time management and making sacrifices. Nothing great comes that easily.

DR AUDI: Had you been the CEO of Medwax Media Group; what would you do to make Medwax Media Group the number one medical media production company in the world?

TIFOW: I will ensure it involves all the stakeholders in the health sector without discrimination. I will also ensure it gives creative and interesting content.

DR AUDI: Thank you very much Dr Tifow. It was an honour hosting you.
